Samaher Hassoun is a real innovator! Enthusiastic beneficiary of the
Village Business Incubator, Samaher never missed a training opportunity!
Samaher started her career attending the entrepreneurial orientation and
business management trainings, and a thorough technical training in
accessories making. The latter provided her with many exciting ideas on
new designs and shapes for necklaces, earrings and bracelets.
Step by step Samaher increased her reputation as accessories producer in
the village and became the preferred choice for many women who like to
wear casual and colorful bijoux.
Samaher well understands the importance of innovation in business and
has decided to focus on new designs based on raw materials available in
the area. Samaher decided to launch a new production of wooden
accessories and became the first woman of Syria using the carpenter
machines to create wooden bracelets, necklaces and rings. A long-lasting
and thorough training was needed to learn how to operate properly the
machines with the appropriate attention to health and safety standards.
A
strong input of design was also provided through the enthusiastic help
and cooperation of Mr. Toni Kurdi, a terrific artisan of Damascus,
internationally famous for his mosaic decorated helmets. With the help
of Toni, Samaher learnt how to make use of different types of wood and
better handle the tools. Moreover Samaher learnt how to decorate her
wooden pieces with mother of pearl and copper wires: a traditional
technique typical of Syria.
"Violet", Al Banafsaj
in Arabic, is your best bet if you like pendants, bracelets and
necklaces recalling the elegance and simplicity of nature.
