Sabah
is a very dynamic and entrepreneurial Lady from Ain al Tineh. Since the
establishment of the Village Business Incubator (VBI), Sabah has been
seeking its support to improve and diversify her micro scale dairy
business.
Sabah
has been taking part actively in all training initiatives organized by
the VBI; The technical training session in cheese production delivered
at the Directorate of Agriculture further improved her skills and
abilities. Through the entrepreneurial orientation and basic managerial
trainings, Sabah reinforced her accounting skills and learned how to
keep records of her profits.
In
May 2006, the VBI put Sabah in contact with Mr. Gerardo Virgilio, dairy
expert from Sardinia, (Italy) to assist her in producing new types of
cheeses: the famous Italian “mozzarella” and “provola” cheeses. Sabah,
who appreciates the importance of innovation in business,
enthusiastically accepted the challenge and attended a very intensive
training course with Mr. Gerardo during three months.
Thanks to her new skills, Sabah decided to take up a loan to build a
small workshop and purchased technical equipment to improve her
production methods and standards. Today, Sabah, produces delicious
Italian cheese with lots of care and following the traditional recipes,
a know-how and expertise passed on by Mr. Gerardo, making Sabah’s
business unique and absolutely innovative.
With the help of the VBI Sabah has promoted her products in Damascus and
is now enjoying the results of her investment and courageous business
endeavour, which make her products very appreciated by local and
international gourmets, connoisseurs of the good, healthy and genuine
cuisine.
